From WBEZ Chicago, Nick van der Kolk’s L+R features in-depth, otherworldly-produced interviews with an eclectic range of subjects, from the seedy to the sublime. You’ve never heard anything like it before.
L+R won the top prize at the 2011 Third Coast Festival Competition (often described as the “Sundance of public radio”), the first podcast to do so in the history of the competition.
Here are some nice things some people have said about the show:
- “Absolutely unclassifiable but arresting… a great piece of very unPublic Radio public radio.” – Peter Sagal, host, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me…
- “There is radio that makes you want to do radio, and that’s fine, and then there is radio that makes you want to quit [...] Nick is one of the sonic innovators in the field.” – Roman Mars, host/ producer, 99% Invisible + Public Radio Remix
- “One of the best things I’ve ever heard on the radio or anywhere else. It is brand new. It is a masterpiece.” – Sean Cole, producer, Radiolab
- “If this doesn’t sound like something you’ve heard on your local public radio station, it’s because you most certainly haven’t.” – Nieman Journalism Lab at Harvard University
